The Minister of Mines and Mining Development is the highest authority within the Ministry followed by the Deputy Minister. The Permanent Secretary is the Accounting Officer and is responsible for daily management.

There are two Principal Directors in the Ministry, Principal Director Technical Services and Principal Director Promotion, Value Addition and Beneficiation.

The Ministry has nine Departments which are headed by a Director except Audit headed by Deputy Director. The Departments are as follows:
